MKTG 345 week 8 AdWords and Google Analytics

Image
Using AdWords to run paid ads can help increase your website traffic, but making sure it is maximizing benefit is important, so using Google Analytics to help keep track of these things is beneficial in the long run. There are some benefits to linking these two as well. Using Google Analytics can be paired with Google AdWords, and a dashboard can be made. So being able to link all of these things, makes it easier to track your website activity, and relate it to how well your AdWords Campaign is doing. Analytics gives you the opportunity to track the conversions that occur just from being on your website, without clicking on a paid add. AdWords can tell if they clicked the add, and whether or not that generated a conversion. By linking the two accounts you can see the path the consumer follows from the add to get the conversion. Or if they did not convert. This way you can paint a picture of what gets people to purchase the product, or leave the sight without purchasing. By having...

KMTG 345 week 7 Behavior

Image
Seeing how people are interacting with your website is important, it helps you remain aware of what people are interested in. Google analytics has a nice behavior overview that gives a lot of information. Understanding what this all means is critical to maximizing the benefits of using Google Analytics. When you enter the behavior section of your analytics page, Overview is a good place to start. This shows your: Pageviews, Unique Pageviews, Avg. Time on Page, Bounce Rate, and % Exit. This leads to a simple overview, as it's called, of what people are doing on your site. How many people are coming, how long are they staying, and whether or not they are staying at all.  The next thing on the list of Behavior options is the Behavior Flow page. This shows where most people enter the website, and where they go from there. Google has logical names, it's literally a place to see the flow of behavior within your website. It shows things in order of popularity, so not...

MKTG 345 Dashboards week 5

Image
Using dashboards in analytics makes everything a lot easier because you can set it to automatically send customizable reports to yourself or others. If you regularly meet with and report to a business you can have the report sent to them, or you can send it to yourself just to make sure you check on those aspects of tracking the website on a regular basis. To make a dashboard you go into Google Analytics and pick the website you want to create the report for. Once you have done that under the Customization tab, then Dashboards. In Dashboards you can pick the one they make for you, or you can make your own. It's nice to use the one they make you, but it's fun to pick the specific measurements you want to by picking your own things to keep track of. Depending on what metrics you need to be aware of you can pick things that best fit your needs. After hitting the Dashboard button the image below is what you will see, hit the read create button and that is how you get st...

MKTG 347 week 9 Boosting Facebook Pages

Image
Facebook is the largest social media platforms and one of the most advertised on website. There are ways to use Facebook and pay to boost your post, but what about if that just is not in your budget? You're not broke, but the money might be designated to other things. There is evidence of ROI being positing by using Facebook and paying for ads, but what if your company is not at a point where they have the budget to do so, even if they want to? I'm here to tell you there are some options! Not perfect like you cannot as accurately track the reach, but using a combination of some can be beneficial to your page. The first thing you can do is use the Facebook Insights tool and see what types of your posts do the best with engagement. This means, do you get more of a response when you post a picture, or is a status better? By determining what draws in the most people will lead to more potential shares, which is a free way to reach more people. Another thing to do is focus ...

WCIYP Motivation week 6

Image
For one of my classes I had to watch a TED talk about “The Golden Circle” by, Simon Sinek, you can watch it here . In this video Simon explains that there are three levels to thinking and doing. The outer layer is what, the middle circle is how, and the inner most circle is why. He explains that many businesses and marketing plans begin at the what and work there way into the why. They start with what they want to do and how they are going to do it, neglecting the why of the whole operation. Worse than neglecting the why, sometimes the focus of the plan is to drive up a profit. The ONLY reason they are doing what they are doing is to make a profit. It may seem like that’s obvious, businesses need profit for survival, but I like to believe that there are some companies that genuinely make good products to better the lives of consumers. So while I’m on my job hunt this is something I am going to keep in mind, what is the true driving force of this company.  In another clas...

WCIYP week 5 Resume

Image
In the book What Color is Your Parachute, it talks about how resumes are becoming a thing of the past and Google, or LinkedIn is your resume, however I think there is still a lot of importance regarding your actual resume. These are elements that can be present in your linked in profile, but should also be evident in your true written resume. The first step in resume building is the format. Make sure the format has a logical flow, the first time it is seen will be a quick look-over. By using a logical flow and keeping this in mind, put the important things where they are quickly seen. Using bold and italic fonts can guide the readers eyes to certain things. Another way to guide the readers eyes is by using bullet points. It shows them what specific things you have to say, as well as listing things in bullets makes what you are saying short and to the point. When you are first out of college, you need to focus on what transferable skills you have learned through classes,...

MKTG 347 week 8 Facebook Ads

Image
Facebook is the largest social media platform, which makes it a good place to put ads. Anyone with a Facebook profile knows how much information you give them upon signing up for an account, so it makes sense to put ads out since there are so many things you have control over. Facebook has every users age, town, birthday, and much more information, so ads can be tailored to specific people. Setting up ads on Facebook is very simple they walk you through every step.  When setting up an ad the first thing that needs to be done is to choose the objective from the following Facebook options: I chose traffic because I am trying to increase the amount of people who see my blog and Facebook page.  The next step is setting up the account, this is where you pick the currency and time zone the ad goes off of. I picked the timezone I live in, but if you were living somewhere and wanted to run an ad tailored for somewhere else, this would be the place you can choose t...
